I wish to express my sympathies to Mrs. Sullivan and the Sullivan family.
Rock was a special person who greatly influenced my life. I first met him when we were eight years old, and in the third grade at Hite-Saunders elementary school. And we remained good friends until I joined the military and moved from Huntington.
He was named after the boxer Rocky Marciano; and “Rocky” Sullivan was a big kid, who was a star athlete in baseball and football (he lettered in football all three years of high school). Schoolwork came easy to him, and his penmanship was so perfect that it looked like art. He had a natural nobility that made him standout from the other kids, and everyone seemed to like and respect him.
There are so many great childhood memories I have of Rock. He was my buddy and my hero. I remember thousands of laughs and good times. But I can remember being angry at him only once when he smacked me in the head with a snowball!
I would also like to pay tribute to Rock's family for being so kind to me when I was growing up. Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan, Granny, Nanny, Tim and Linda were always fun people who I looked up to because of their zest for life.
There is not enough that can be said about a person to honor and celebrate their life. And this is especially true of someone like Rock. I've been lucky to have had many friends throughout my life but Rock was the best by far. He was the perfect childhood companion. And although I hadn't seen him in thirty-five years my affection for Rock is so great, that with his passing I feel as though a part of my life has be cut away.
Best wishes to the Sullivan family.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Rocky. My love and prayers go out to all the friends and family. It's hard to imagine the amount of grief after just having lost John Michael. May the peace of God that passes all understanding be with each of you
